Maine Medical Center Management/Leadership Req #: 93621 Seeking a leader to oversee a 21-bed Inpatient Medical Psychiatry unit caring for a medically complex patient population, with a strong focus on Geriatric Psychiatry. This role requires clinical expertise, strong leadership, and the ability to manage a team in a dynamic environment where patients present with both significant psychiatric needs and medical comorbidities.

This Nurse Manager (under the leadership of the Nursing Director), will lead a team of approximately 80 FTEs within a highly specialized inpatient unit providing care for patients with Medical and Behavioral Health diagnoses. With fewer than 10 hospitals in the U.
S. offering a comparable model of care, this represents an exceptional opportunity for the right leader. The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in behavioral health, demonstrated leadership experience, and a solid understanding of regulatory expectations for behavioral health patient populations. Additionally, the successful candidate will possess excellent communication and collaboration skills, along with the operational expertise needed to lead in a complex, multidisciplinary care environment.
The Nurse Manager in collaboration with the Nursing Director is the vital link between the mission and vision of Maine Medical Center and the delivery of safe patient and family centered care that is compassionate, evidence-based, and provides highest quality care. Reporting through the Nursing Director, this role requires collaboration with staff, physicians, directors, other professional colleagues and occasionally senior administration, to meet the diverse and continually changing challenges of the health care environment.
The Nurse Manager must be a creative, autonomous, future-oriented, risk-taking entrepreneur who applies nursing expertise, critical thinking, and effective leadership and management skills to ensure that quality care is provided through satisfied and inspired professionals on a daily basis. Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)
BSN required. Masters preferred. License/Certifications: Requires current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Maine.
Requires advanced knowledge and expertise in providing care in order to oversee others and serve as effective resource at a level normally acquired through two or three years of progressive experience. Strong behavioral health experience necessary. Requires interpersonal and management skills in order to deal with complex management problems.
Communicates effectively with unit and administrative personnel, physicians, a variety of other hospital staff and persons within the community. Requires a high level of critical thinking and analytical skills to make management decisions at unit level and make recommendations for consideration on departmental issues. Requires the ability to integrate the knowledge of teaching principles and counseling techniques in order to direct the growth of the unit staff.
Requires a high level of organization skills, effective time management and delegation strategies that include the ability to rapidly prioritize and adjust work flow according to changing unit needs. The base range is an estimate and does not reflect the full value of our total compensation package. The pay range for this position is $132,225.60 to $178,880.00 per year. Compensation for part-time positions is determined on a prorated basis consistent with the scheduled hours and applicable full-time equivalent (FTE).
