About the role

Duties Description Are you interested in starting your career as a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner with New York State? Mohawk Valley Psychiatric Center, Children and Youth is recruiting a Nurse Practitioner Psychiatry to provide patient-centered and recovery-oriented behavioral health services to individuals with mental illness. Candidates from outside or within State Service can apply. As Nurse Practitioner Psychiatry, you will utilize a range of psychosocial interventions and therapy methods including:
Providing psychiatric assessments, crisis intervention, treatments, and medication management.
Establishing individual goals and treatment objectives.
Prescribing medications and treatments, monitoring impact, and modifying as needed.
Maintaining medical records and documentation.

Candidates from outside or within State Service may be considered for hire under the Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement - Statewide (NY HELPS) program as a Nurse Practitioner Psychiatry if they have certification and current registration as a Nurse Practitioner in the Psychiatry specialty practice area by the New York State Education Department. OR Candidates from within State Service can be considered for a competitive class appointment if they have one year of permanent competitive or 55-b/55-c service in a title eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law.
