The Registered Nurse (RN) provides nursing care to patients utilizing the nursing process and standards of practice for a professional nurse. The RN is expected to perform all staff nurse activities and function as charge nurse when assigned. The RN maintains overall accountability/responsibility for assigned patients, even though some activities/tasks may be delegated to Technical Nurses, Patient Care Associates, and/or Sitters.
Assignments are performed appropriately to age and developmental level of patients being served. All team members will be expected to work all areas of their unit. 3N RNs will be required to work MB, NBN, and attend deliveries. The LD RN will be required to work LD, WAC, LD PACU, and the LD OR.
NICU/NICU SD will be required to work both areas. All Women Service team members will be required to float between units as needed to work within their scope of practice. Qualifications 🎓 Required Education Associate’s Degree in Nursing.
Graduate of an accredited school of nursing . BSN Requirement: New hires effective June 14, 2017 , must obtain a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited school of nursing within three (3) years of hire or transfer into the position. Employees hired or transferred between August 1, 2013, and June 13, 2017 , must comply with the conditions outlined in their offer letter and the

Effective July 1, 2018 , all current employees were required to obtain certification by July 1, 2019 . New hires and transfers must obtain AWHONN FHM Intermediate or Advanced certification within one (1) year of hire or transfer if they have no previous training. Effective March 1, 2021 , employees must recertify fetal monitoring every two (2) years , along with the required divisional update based on assigned learning.

Recertification must occur within 72 hours of the end of the month in which the employee's certification is due.
