Licensure
✓Must be listed on the North Carolina Nurse Aide I Registry (NA I) by April 16, 2027
✓Must be listed as a Nurse Aide II (NA II) with the North Carolina Board of Nursing by May 14, 2027
Certifications
✓Must possess current Basic Cardiac Life Support AHA (BCLS) or American Red Cross BLS certification
✓Must possess a current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) or American Red Cross BLS certification by May 14, 2027
Education
✓Currently enrolled in an accredited Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program.
Qualifications
✓Nursing students who will be entering their final year of nursing school at the start of the program with anticipated graduation December 2027 or May 2028
✓Scheduled to complete Med/Surg clinical by Spring 2027
✓Must be available to work continuous 40 hours per week for the duration of the Nurse Extern Summer Program.
✓Must be available to participate in three 12-hour clinical shifts per week, in addition to scheduled specialty education sessions and/or clinical observation experiences.
✓Must maintain scheduling flexibility, including availability for rotating shifts, weekends, and holidays, based on departmental and program needs.
✓Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
✓Ability to work effectively within an interdisciplinary team environment.
✓Ability to prioritize responsibilities and adapt to changing patient care needs.
