0.6 FTE 24 hours Weekly – Primarily Day Shift with some Night and Weekend Shift Support Position: Nursing Professional Development Practitioner The Nursing Professional Development (NPD) Practitioner utilizes professional judgment and expertise to enhance the role competence and growth of learners across various settings, supporting the IU Health Way. Key responsibilities include onboarding and orientation, competency management, education, role development, collaborative partnerships, and inquiry.
This role often functions at the unit or facility level, partnering with leaders and stakeholders to achieve strategic goals and initiatives. ________________________________________ Position Overview : The Nursing Professional Development Practitioner plays a vital role in fostering professional growth, ensuring competency, and supporting educational needs within the organization. They serve as a resource and leader in adult learning principles, working collaboratively to promote excellence in patient care and staff development across IU Health.
The primary focus of this role will be Inpatient Med-Surg & Oncology Infusion education. ________________________________________ Key
- Lead onboarding and orientation programs for new staff and learners.
- Manage and assess competency development and maintenance for clinical staff.
- Design, implement, and evaluate educational programs and role development initiatives.
- Build collaborative partnerships with unit leaders, educators, and stakeholders to support organizational goals.
- Facilitate inquiry and evidence-based practice to promote continuous improvement.
- Support system-wide and unit-specific educational strategies to meet evolving patient care needs. ________________________________________ Qualifications &

- Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN) required. - Graduate from a nationally accredited nursing program. •
- Active RN license in Indiana or Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC). •
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) required. - Additional advanced life support certifications may be required depending on unit or specialty. •
- 3-5 yrs years of nursing experience preferred. - Educator/Preceptor experience strongly preferred • Knowledge &
