Serves as a central point of contact for nursing issues in the absence of Nursing managers and administrators. Coordinates bed assignments with Emergency Department, Nursing units and Patient Placement to facilitate safe and expeditious patient placement/assignment. In addition, specific functions may change from time to time: Makes rounds throughout shift to assess accommodation of patients and staff response to patient placement issues Communicates regularly with Patient Placement, Nursing Units and the Emergency Department to facilitate flow of patients being admitted Intercedes in difficult patient/family situations to provide support, public relations and problem resolution Takes needed action to facilitate departure of discharged patients Assesses staffing levels in consideration of patient acuity and make recommendations regarding interventions as indicated according to divisional staffing policies Communicates with Patient Care Manager as indicated during shift and completes reports needed for administration Monitors, directs and facilitates hospital operations including customer satisfaction, throughput, patient care processes and hospital functional capacity Other duties as assigned
The following qualifications, or equivalents, are the minimum requirements necessary to perform the essential functions of this job: Education and Formal Training : Associate’s degree in Nursing required Bachelor's degree in Nursing preferred Current Registered Nurse licensure in North Carolina required Work
2 years’ clinical experience required 1 year management/supervisory experience required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required : Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking the English language Leadership characteristics Working knowledge of staffing, admissions and prioritization for patient placement Strong interpersonal skills required Ability to trouble shoot problem areas and maintain positive attitude Physical
