Nursing Unit Secretary – NICU, Barbara Bush Children’s Hospital MaineHealth | Maine Medical Center Location: 22 Bramhall Street, Portland, ME
Weekend Requirement : Every third weekend (Saturday and Sunday – Day shift and Friday and Saturday – Night Shift). Holiday Requirement : Every third major holiday group (summer and winter holidays), assigned based on department needs at the time of hire. Remote: On-site only (no remote flexibility) This is a 36 hour per week/DAY shift position.
NICU uses a self-scheduling process in 8-week scheduling blocks. The only shifts that are predetermined are your required weekends and holidays. Team members are assigned to a weekend rotation (every third weekend) and a holiday rotation (every third major summer/winter holiday) based on department needs at the time of hire.
For the remaining shifts, you'll submit your preferred schedule for the 8-week period. Leadership then reviews all requests and balances the schedule to ensure staffing needs are met. The finalized schedule is typically posted about 30 days before it takes effect.
Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)
High School diploma or GED preferred. License/Certifications: Current BLS certification preferred or may be required based on location.
One year of hospital or health care setting preferred. The pay range for this position is $19.10 to $22.53 per hour. Compensation for part-time positions is determined on a prorated basis consistent with the scheduled hours and applicable full-time equivalent (FTE).
