✓Requirements
Certifications
✓High School Diploma and graduate from an accredited Surgical Technologist program maintaining the Surgical Technologist Certification administered by the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) or its successor.
✓Upon completion of an accredited program for surgical technologists, graduates may practice for up to 3 months before completing certification by the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting or its successor.
✓Certified Surgical Technologist - National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting Required or
✓Have evidence that the individual was employed to practice as a Surgical Technician in a South Carolina Healthcare facility or the federal government prior to Jan 1, 2008 (a break in service will not disqualify the individual if employment as a Surgical Technician is documented prior to Jan 1, 2008)
✓Basic Life Support Certified - American Heart Association within 30 Days Required
Education
✓High School Diploma and completion of an appropriate training program for surgical technology in the United States Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, or Coast Guard or in the United States Public Health Service.
Qualifications
✓Complete 15 hours of continuing education to remain qualified for employment annually Required or
✓Works with patients, families and other health care providers
