- The occupational therapist shall be responsible for providing a full range of occupational therapy including assessment, treatment planning and therapeutic interventions in an interdisciplinary environment consistent with the position’s qualifications, professional practices and ethical standards. - Graduate of accredited school of occupational therapy required Current and active Occupational Therapist license with the state of Texas required CPR certification is required. - Formalized and goal directed educational / training activities are provided at an appropriate level of understanding per the patient’s age and cognitive abilities.
- Other members of the team are consulted to coordinate therapeutic activities.
- Patient response to the treatment plan is evaluated as evidenced by patient achievement of goals and/or goal revision, the treatment plan is updated as needed and/or on a weekly basis.
- Information is provided to patient/family and occupational therapist regarding current status, program planning and discharge plans throughout the rehabilitation program.
- Document the course of patient care including progress made and continuing need for treatment.
- Provide patient and family education on tasks and resources that will assist with continued functional independence.
- Collaborate with the OT to develop new methods of delivering education to patients and family.
- Coordinate treatment activity with supervising OT and other disciplines and team members.
- Attends team meetings and offers ideas/solutions in problem solving situations/activities regarding the program.
- Contribute to development of improved efficiency and productivity of center clinical and administrative functions.
- Participate in survey preparation by completing assigned tasks as requested and submitting data as requested.
- Utilizes resources appropriately and uses/maintains equipment in order to prolong working life.

Working Conditions : The individual spends over 95% of his/her time in an air-conditioned environment with varying exposures to noise. There is protection from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes. The position does have low exposure to malodorous, infectious body fluids from patients and some minimal exposure to noxious smells from cleansing agents.
C. Occupational Exposure: This position has minimal to no exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissues and is an OSHA Category III (although situations can be imagined or hypothesized under which anyone, anywhere, might encounter potential exposure to body fluids). Person who performs these duties are not called upon as part of their employment to perform or assist in emergency medical care or first aid or to be potentially exposed in some other way.
