Licensure
✓Possession of, or proven eligibility for, licensure as an Occupational Therapist by the Occupational Therapy Board of California.
Certifications
✓Prepares, maintains and transmits accurate patient care records as required including services rendered, progress notes, discharge notes and third party payer reports (e.g. CCS, Medicare, Medi-Cal forms).
✓Possession of, or proven eligibility for, CPR certification.
Graduate degree or certificate in Occupational Therapy from an accredited professional educational program. preferred
Qualifications
✓Minimum of 3 years of general patient care experience, including at least 2 years in a relevant multidisciplinary setting within the past 5 years.
✓Minimum of 40 hours of professional development activities, with at least 50% consisting of continuing education units (CEUs) or relevant academic coursework. The remaining hours may include mentoring, Grand Rounds, independent reading, and other relevant professional development activities.
✓Prior experience as a clinical preceptor and experience teaching a wide variety of audiences.
✓Demonstrated ability to consistently meet the clinical caseload requirements of a staff-level therapist.
✓Ability to work a minimum of 32 hours per week, across 4 days per week.
✓Ability to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing.
✓Ability to recognize signs of distress.
✓Basic computer skills, including word processing and online communication.
✓Demonstrated ability to mentor professional behaviors, including interpersonal skills, time management, problem-solving, and self-initiation.
✓Flexibility to orient and work at all UCSF Medical Center locations.
Prior professional clinical experience in an academic medical center environment. preferred
Prior experience working on an interdisciplinary healthcare provider team. preferred
Ability to work full-time, 5 days per week. preferred
5 years of experience in a relevant specialty area across the rehabilitation continuum of care, including acute care, acute rehabilitation/SNF, and outpatient services. preferred

About the role

The Senior Staff Therapist, Occupational Therapist III, reports to the Clinical Supervisor, Occupational Therapy and provides both direct and indirect patient care services. The Senior Therapist works primarily with adult and geriatric patients from diverse socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds, although pediatric and adolescent patients may also be treated.
