✓Basic Life Support (BLS) required upon hire.
✓Medical Assistant Registered (MA-R), Washington State, required within 120 days of hire.
✓Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) certification required within one year of hire.
✓Completion of a Certified Ophthalmic Assistant training program or equivalent work experience and successful completion of the JCAHPO COA examination within one year of hire.

Education
✓Completion of an accredited Ophthalmic Assistant program or equivalent training and experience meeting certification requirements.
Qualifications
One year of experience in an ophthalmology practice preferred.

About the role

As an Ophthalmic Assistant, you'll play an important role in helping patients feel informed, comfortable, and cared for throughout their visit.

What you’ll do
Welcome and room patientsWelcome and room patients
Gather ocular, medical, andGather ocular, medical, and family health histories
Document patient information accuratelyDocument patient information accurately in the electronic medical record
Prepare patients for examinationsPrepare patients for examinations and procedures
Perform ophthalmic testing, includingPerform ophthalmic testing, including visual acuity, visual fields, pupil assessments, intraocular pressure measurements, extraocular motion testing, and refractions as appropriate
