You’ll need
Certifications
✓4-6 years of ophthalmology experience, advanced expertise including precepting, and required ophthalmic certification
✓Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required through the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA), Certified Ophthalmic Technician (COT), Certified Ophthalmic Medical Technologist (COMT) preferred
Education
✓High School Diploma or GED required.
✓Completion of an ophthalmic technician apprenticeship program may substitute for experience.
Qualifications
✓Knowledge of ophthalmic assisting techniques and clinical workflows
✓Understanding of optics, visual acuity testing, and ocular anatomy
✓Ability to perform diagnostic ophthalmic testing and imaging
✓Strong patient communication and education skills
✓Ability to work effectively in a fast paced outpatient clinical environment
✓Ability to collaborate with physicians, residents, and interdisciplinary clinical teams
Accurate documentation in electronic health records (Epic preferred)

About the role
Performs ophthalmic examinations including patient history collection, visual acuity testing, pupillary assessment, intraocular pressure measurement, ocular motility evaluation, and lensometry.
