Work alongside experienced Ophthalmologists and Optometrists while performing hands-on clinical testing within your scope of practice. Spend more time building trust with patients and helping them understand their vision care, treatment plans, and next steps. Enjoy a consistent Monday-Friday schedule with no nights and no scheduled weekends.
Be part of a supportive clinic team where collaboration, respect, and patient-centered care drive every decision. Continue developing your ophthalmic skills through exposure to advanced testing, patient education, and specialty eye care services.
Welcome patients and guide them through their visit from start to finish. Gather medical, ocular, family, and medication histories. Prepare patients for exams and explain testing, medications, and procedures.
Measure visual acuity, visual fields, eye movements, pupil responses, and other ophthalmic assessments. Perform intraocular pressure testing and other approved diagnostic procedures within your scope of practice. Accurately document findings in the electronic medical record.
Scribe for providers during patient visits when needed. Enter referrals, authorizations, and related documentation. Educate patients on eye health, contact lens care, and treatment instructions.
Assist with surgical and procedural patient education as appropriate. Dispense contact lenses and administer ophthalmic medications as directed. Support telephone triage and patient follow-up as needed.
Maintain exam rooms, equipment, and clinical supplies. Clean and sterilize instruments and diagnostic lenses. Assist with optical and additional clinic responsibilities as assigned.
What You'll Bring Required Qualifications Education Completion of an Ophthalmic Technician program, currently enrolled in an Ophthalmic Technician program, or scheduled to take/passed the JCAHPO Certified Ophthalmic Technician (COT) examination. Licenses & Certifications Certified Ophthalmic Technician (COT) required within 12 months of hire. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required upon hire.
Washington Medical Assistant Registered (MA-R) credential required within 120 days of hire (PeaceHealth will assist with the registration process).
At least one year of experience in an ophthalmology clinic or eye care practice. Experience supporting providers in a fast-paced, patient-focused clinical environment. Nice to Have We know life doesn't stop when you're at work.
