The Therapist, Traditional Outpatient Program (TOP) provides direct clinical services to include assessments, interventions, treatment planning and discharge planning, as well as providing individual, family, and/or group therapy to further patient/family/group progress in treatment. All duties are performed according to the Joint Commission, Federal and State Regulations, Oceans' Mission, policies and procedures and PI standards. 1.
Provides direct clinical services in accordance with accepted standards of social/work clinical practice in a timely fashion as outlined by Joint Commission, Federal and State Regulations, Oceans Behavioral Hospital's Mission, policies and procedures and PI Standards. 2. Plans and conducts individual, family and/or group therapy as assigned by the director. 3. Conducts, assesses and interprets completion of Comprehensive Integrated Assessment (Biopsychosocial) per state guidelines. 4.
Performs case management and discharge planning as assigned by the Director. 5. Attends treatment team meetings when indicated and reporting on assigned patients and their progress toward treatment goal. 6. Documents in a timely manner in the EHR on a daily basis, the services rendered in a BIRP format. 7.
Assesses and interprets age/disability/cultural needs; identifies safety, psychosocial, special mobility and special equipment needs; and communicates in an age/disability/culturally sensitive related manner to patients and their families. 8. Conducts treatment and discharge planning in accordance with age/disability/cultural needs and involves members of the patient's support system in decision making as appropriate per state guidelines. 9.
Collects, monitors and maintains performance improvement procedures for services rendered in a peer review format. 10. Performs other duties and projects as assigned. Qualifications Experience Educational / Experience
At a minimum a Clinical Social Worker (CSW), LMSW, LCSW, LMFT, LPC, LPC-A (TX Only) or Psychologist. Master’s degree in social work, counseling, psychology, or other state approved educational programs. One year prior experience with psychiatric or chemical dependency patients.

Demonstrates the knowledge and skills to provide care appropriate to the age, disability, and cultural needs of patients. • Understands principles of growth and development relevant to the patient population. Able to assess and interpret patient data to identify needs and provide individualized care for adolescent, chronically mentally ill, adult, geriatric, chemically dependent, and dually diagnosed populations. Demonstrates in-depth knowledge of mental illness, chemical dependency, and associated family dynamics, and maintains basic knowledge of chronic mental illness.
Possesses knowledge of clinical therapy modalities. Exhibits excellent communication and group facilitation skills appropriate to patient age and needs. Demonstrates competence in assessment, intervention, treatment, and discharge planning.
Able to pass the general age/disability post-test. Flexible, versatile, and able to perform effectively in stressful situations. Demonstrates strong time management and organizational skills and can coordinate a multi-faceted workload.
Able to work with patients with a range of mental and physical disabilities. Successfully completes Basic Life Saving (BLS) certification and an Oceans-approved behavioral health de-escalation program. Working Environment: Subject to many interruptions.
Occasional pressure due to multiple calls and inquiries. This position can be high paced and stressful; must be able to cope mentally and physically to atmosphere.
