Licensure
✓State license: EMT-P or LP or EMT-P and
✓DL - Driver License - State Licensure - Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation_PSV and
Certifications
✓BLS - Basic Life Support or Instructor (AHA) - American Heart Association and
✓ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support or Instructor (AHA) - American Heart Association and
✓PALS - Pediatric Advanced Life Support or Instructor (AHA) - American Heart Association and
✓NVCRISIS - Nonviolent Crisis Intervention or Instructor (CPI) - Crisis Prevention Institute
Education
✓High School diploma or equivalent education (examples include: GED, verification of homeschool equivalency, partial or full completion of post-secondary education, etc.)
Qualifications
✓Three years of ambulance/transport experience functioning as the primary attendant clinically caring for patients in a pre-hospital setting such as a 911 EMS System or a busy private ambulance service.
✓Demonstrates the skills and competencies necessary to safely perform the assigned job, determined through on-going skills, competency assessments, and performance evaluations
✓Sufficient proficiency in speaking, reading, and writing the English language necessary to perform the essential functions of this job, especially with regard to activities impacting patient or employee safety or security
✓Ability to effectively communicate with patients, physicians, family members and co-workers in a manner consistent with a customer service focus and application of positive language principles
✓Full knowledge of the ambulance’s equipment and its proper use at all times
✓Knowledgeable of clinical protocols, operational procedures and safety policies
✓Demonstrates independence and exercises judgment in interactions with physicians, interprofessional care team, patients and their families
✓Displays strong time management skills
✓Adapts to multiple ongoing priorities with minimal supervision including but not limited to organizing workflows and actively participating in problem-solving
✓Demonstrates ability to access information both in the department and within the hospital system to support the department and interprofessional health care team as appropriate
✓Possesses competent computer knowledge. Operates multiple computer systems including electronic health records to maintain patient information
One year hospital experience preferred

About the role

This position is responsible for assisting in the delivery of patient care and services to diverse patient population and their families under direction of the Medical Director.
