✓Requirements
Licensure
✓West Virginia Office of EMS Paramedic license or successfully obtain within one (1) month of hire and renewed every two (2) years.
✓The EMS clinician must maintain the professional standards required to successfully obtain and maintain certification and licensure as a Paramedic.
✓Maintaining West Virginia Paramedic licensure through the West Virginia Office of EMS.
✓Maintaining eligibility for licensure under West Virginia law and regulations.
✓Possession of a state EMS certification or National Registry certification alone does not grant authorization to perform clinical skills within Monongalia EMS.
✓Maintain required NREMT and state licensure
Certifications
✓National Registry of EMTs Paramedic registration and renewed every two (2) years.
✓Emergency Vehicle Operator Safety (EVOS) certification or successfully obtain within one (1) month of hire and renewed every four (4) years.
✓Valid BLS for Healthcare Providers certification or successfully obtain within one (1) month of hire and renewed every two (2) years.
✓Valid Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) (or equivalent) certification or successfully obtain within one (1) month of hire and renewed every two (2) years.
✓Prehospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS) certification or successfully obtain within one (1) month of hire and renewed within two (2) years of certification date.
✓I. Emergency Pediatric Care (EPC), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) or equivalent, or Pediatric Education for Prehospital Providers (PEPP) certification or successfully obtain within one (1) month of hire and renewed within 2 years of certification date
✓K. Successful completion of National Incident Management System (NIMS) within (1) month of hire
✓IS 700: An Introduction to the National Incident Management System
Education
✓Associate, Bachelor, or Graduate level degree from a regionally accredited post-secondary educational institution.
Qualifications
✓West Virginia Office of EMS C3IFT endorsement or successfully obtain within one (1) year of hire and maintained throughout employment.
✓Valid Driver’s License with driving record acceptable by motor vehicle insurance carrier.
✓J. West Virginia Office of EMS Blood Endorsement or successfully obtain within one (1) year of hire and renewed annually.
✓IS 100: Introduction to the ICS System
✓IS 200: Basic Incident Command System for Initial Response
✓IS 800: National Response Framework, an Introduction
✓Unencumbered ability to practice Emergency Medical Services within the State of WV and be in compliance with all Federal, State, and Local statutes, rules, and regulations.
✓Background check that does not demonstrate a threat to public safety, health, or welfare nor an unwillingness to comply with state laws, rules, procedures, etc.
✓Not have been convicted of driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, reckless driving or other vehicular violation causing bodily injury or death within two years prior to hire.
✓Minimum of one (1) year of experience as a field EMS clinician (EMT, AEMT, and/or Paramedic).
✓Minimum of two (2) years of driving experience
