Provides emotional support, information, and advocacy for parents with infants in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU).
Provides emotional support to parents of NICU patients and assists with family bonding at the bedside. Advocates for parents' needs and concerns within the healthcare system, facilitating communication and representing the family’s perspective and best interests to providers and interdisciplinary teams. Assists and educates parents in navigating the NICU environment and adjusting to having an infant admitted to the NICU, offering needed information and support.
Encourages and facilitates parental involvement in support services and program activities. Assists in the development and implementation of research and patient care protocols to improve neurodevelopmental outcomes in chronic neonatal patients. Education Requirement: High School Diploma or equivalent, required.
