Under the general supervision of a pathologist, the Pathologists Assistant provides various services in both surgical and autopsy pathology. The primary responsibilities include gross examination and dissection of anatomic pathology specimens and the performance of post mortem examinations. Provides preparation, gross description and dissection of surgical specimens in accordance to established protocols in a timely mannerSelects and prepares representative tissue sections for histologic and microscopic examination including frozen sections, following established guidelinesAssists the pathologists in performing the post mortem examination in accordance to established protocols in a timely mannerProvides technical and administrative support for Bassett sponsored conferences and projects as requested by physiciansFollows all institution and department policies and proceduresUnderstands the role and responsibilities of individual members as part of the health care team including their ability to promote the delivery of quality healthcareMaintains a clean and orderly work environmentReview work of students and residents as assignedIs self-directedPrioritizes tasks without intervention from manager/supervisor or pathologistsWorks productively with minimal errors and follow upServes as a technical resource for other staff members, sharing knowledge proactively with other members of the section, shift, or labRoutinely self-motivated and enthusiastFollows up appropriately when problems are encountered in an independent mannerConsistently able to access a problematic situation, consider alternatives and choose appropriate course of actionInteracts with providers and staff providing constructive feedback for process improvementFrozen sectioning triage and cuttingPerforms other duties within their scope of practice What we need from youEducation:4 Year/Bachelor's Degree in Science related field, requiredMaster's Degree in Science related field, preferredExperience:Minimum 1 year Pathologist's Assistant training, requiredLicensure/Certifications:NYS SED as a Pathologist's Assistant, requiredOrLicensure-eligible with limited permit as a Pathologist's Assistant, requiredOrLimited Permit is granted to individuals that meet the educational requirements for licensure except for the licensing examination, which must be taken within one year from the issuance of a limited permit, requiredSkills:AccountabilityAccuracyComputer SkillsCritical ThinkingReading/Writing/ComprehensionMulti-TaskingLogical ThinkingLaboratory SkillsOrganizing/Categorizing RecordsPhysical

Salary is based on a variety of factors, including, but not limited to, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, training, and fair market evaluation based on industry standards. Minimum:USD $120,557.57/Yr.
Maximum:USD $180,836.35/Yr.
