The Patient Access Specialist serves as a key front-line contact for patients and providers, ensuring efficient and welcoming access to clinical services. Primary responsibilities include: Providing front desk coverage in a fast-paced outpatient setting Scheduling appointments for internal and external referrals, including hospital and community providers Managing high-volume multi-line phone systems with professionalism and urgency Completing patient registration, verification, and documentation accurately and efficiently Collecting payments for clinical services and assisting with billing-related inquiries Coordinating interpreter services to support patient communication needs Collaborating with clinical teams, schedulers, technologists, and referring offices to ensure smooth patient flow Supporting a positive patient experience through clear communication and service excellence This role is ideal for individuals who thrive in customer-facing healthcare environments, enjoy problem-solving, and take pride in helping patients navigate the care system with ease.

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution OR High school diploma/GED with: At least 2 years of experience in a medical office, call center, or customer service environment OR at least 6 months of MUSC Patient Access experience OR at least 6 months of related healthcare experience Preferred
