Patient Access Specialist - Prince William Emergency Department

The role will operate on a 4x10 schedule (7:00 AM to 5:30 PM), including rotating weekend and holiday coverage within the Emergency Department. As a Patient Access Specialist, you will play a vital role in ensuring patients receive a seamless registration experience while helping them navigate healthcare services and financial resources with care and accuracy.

The Role As a Patient Access Specialist, you will be at the center of the patient experience, serving as a trusted resource for registration, insurance verification, and patient access services across several outpatient areas.

This is a fast-paced, patient-facing role that requires strong communication skills, flexibility, and a commitment to accuracy. An average day may include: Welcoming patients and completing registration and check-in processes. Verifying demographic information, insurance coverage, and required documentation.

Collecting patient signatures and ensuring registration records are complete and accurate. Assisting patients with financial assistance resources and helping eligible individuals navigate application processes. Supporting scheduled appointments as well as walk-in services including laboratory visits, imaging, EKGs, and other outpatient services.

Responding to departmental communications, workflow updates, and system changes. Collaborating with teammates and clinical departments to ensure patients move efficiently through the care process. Floating between multiple outpatient registration areas including MRI, Surgical Services, Main Radiology, Health Center, and other registration locations as operational needs evolve.

The pay range for this role is $17.50 - $30.14 hourly. Individual compensation will be determined by the selected candidate's qualifications, previous work experience, and/or education.
