WORK SCHEDULE Full-time, (40 hours per week) Day Shift Mondays- Fridays/ 8:00am- 4:30pm Telework/ Occasional after a successful probationary period POSITION HIGHLIGHTS Conveniently located near public transportation Make a difference for the patients and employees we serve Opportunity to provide career growth DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION Located at UW Medical Center – Montlake, our specialty clinic has fellowship-trained surgeons, who assess and treat all head and neck conditions.
Our specialists care for patients with otology and vestibular disorders, nasal obstruction and breathing issues, chronic sinusitis, tumors at the base of the skull and laryngeal conditions, as well as patients needing head and neck surgery or facial plastic and reconstructive surgery. Often the causes of such disorders are not immediately evident so the team’s clinical experience with diagnostic tools is vital to setting out a treatment plan that has the best likelihood of success.
PRIMARY
Uses ability to triage medical information within the Surgical Specialties to a variety of Health Care Professionals using effective oral and written communication Works independently under the general direction of a physician or their designee Coordinate pre- and post-surgery diagnostic procedures, tests, and follow-up patient appointments Act as a liaison between patients, consulting physician, referring physician, or outside agency to coordinate patient appointments, admission, anesthesia, and surgery.
Obtain all necessary medical records, diagnostic studies, pathology items, etc., that are needed for patient care Demonstrates the ability to be organized and effectively prioritizes work tasks for the needs of the clinic. Requests interpreters as appropriate for appointments, admissions, and surgery. Collaborate with all members of the clinic team to ensure exceptional patient care and satisfaction.
Scheduling: Surgery Acts as liaison between patient, physicians, OR, nurses, other clinics, nursing units, admitting, Financial Counseling, blood bank, lab, Radiology, OT, PT, Prosthetics, etc. for the purpose of coordinating all pre-op planning and preparation. Schedules and communicates pre-op planning and preparation to patient. Sends appointment and other information to patients.
Responsible for requesting necessary surgical equipment, tools, supplies, devices, and implants (will supply necessary info for custom implants). Manages OR block time. Releases block time and requests elective OR time through the Surgical Services Website.
Responsible for scheduling, rescheduling, and canceling surgeries on ESI scheduling system. Will monitor case order day prior to surgery and make any necessary changes. May assist with completion of surgery packet.
Follow-up Care: May assist with discharge from clinic or hospital by providing follow-up appointments, arranging transportation or housing.
