Must be available for weekends/and or holidays, per departmental needs. Job Summary The Assistant Patient Care Manager (A- PCM ) supports the patient care manager ( PCM ) whose human resource span of control exceeds acceptable UKHC standards. He/She will provide supervision, coaching, mentoring and opportunities for growth to nursing staff and assist in the day-to-day management of the nursing unit(s). The A- PCM assists with scheduling, payroll management, monitoring of staff competencies, evaluation of staff performance, and special projects as assigned by the PCM . He/she will serve as the manager for clerical staff as appropriate on the assigned unit(s). Increased supervision and staff coaching/mentoring is associated with decreased staff turnover and improved patient outcomes. The Assistant Patient Care Manager (A- PCM ) provides clinical and managerial oversight on the shifts he/she is assigned. The A- PCM supports the Patient Care Managers to develop nursing staff at all levels to ensure nursing practice that supports exemplary patient care, compliance with regulatory/accreditation standards and exceptional patient experience, and are responsible for direct supervision of staff and support of patient care manager Skills / Knowledge / Abilities This position also requires the ability to function effectively in stressful situations, skills in group dynamics, problem solving, interviewing, observation, counseling, and teaching. Does this position have supervisory responsibilities? Preferred Education/Experience BSN with 4 years of related job experience preferred. Previous management experience preferred.
