Patient Care Technician I - Shock Trauma, Multi-Trauma and Orthopedic Telemetry

Job Requirements Under the supervision of licensed nursing personnel, the Patient Care Technician I delivers direct patient care, including obtaining vital signs, assisting with activities of daily living, performing phlebotomy, and collecting specimen samples. This position entails monitoring and accurately documenting patient conditions, collaborating effectively with the healthcare team, and ensuring patient safety and comfort.

Key responsibilities include wound care, urinary catheter management, blood glucose monitoring, and support with orthopedic devices. The technician is involved in patient admissions, transfers, discharges, and hourly rounding, while upholding a safe and organized clinical environment. Strict adherence to safety protocols and clear communication are critical to enhancing patient outcomes in this part-time role.

Work Experience Candidates must hold a high school diploma or its equivalent, possess current Maryland state certification as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) or Geriatric Nursing Assistant (GNA), and maintain Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. Although prior experience is not mandatory, preference will be given to candidates with direct patient care experience in a healthcare setting. Successful applicants will exhibit strong verbal and written communication skills, demonstrate the ability to foster effective interpersonal relationships and collaborate within a team, and show proficiency in prioritizing tasks and managing multiple responsibilities in high-pressure environments.

Furthermore, candidates should be capable of learning and utilizing computer systems, accurately performing blood glucose testing and documentation, and executing delegated nursing tasks with respect and sensitivity to the age, culture, ethnicity, spirituality, and individual needs of patients.
