Patient Care Technician - Outpatient Surgery Department: PACU Hours: per diem Come join one of Connecticut’s Top Workplaces for a fifth year in a row, and a 6 time Magnet designated organization! At Middlesex Health, we have a unique combination of award-winning talent, world-class technology, and patient-first care that's making health care better. Through our affiliation with the Mayo Clinic Care Network, Middlesex Health has access to the most advanced medical knowledge and research available.

Patient Care Technicians (PCTs) at Middlesex Health play an essential role in delivering safe, high-quality, patient-centered care under the direction of a Registered Nurse. In Outpatient Surgery, this role offers a unique opportunity to work with a diverse patient population across multiple care settings, including pre-operative care, inpatient and outpatient recovery, and same-day orthopedic surgical recovery within our specialized orthopedic unit.

Our Outpatient Surgery PCTs are integral members of the Surgical Services team, working closely with nurses, providers, patients, families, and designated support persons to promote a safe, seamless, and positive surgical experience. From helping patients prepare for procedures to supporting their recovery and discharge, PCTs contribute to the quality of care provided at every stage of the surgical journey. This is a dynamic environment where flexibility and teamwork are essential.

Patient needs and department priorities can change throughout the day, and PCTs must be comfortable adapting to changing assignments, supporting different care areas, and collaborating with colleagues across Surgical Services. A positive attitude, a willingness to jump in where needed, and a team-first approach are critical to success in this role.
