Licensure
✓Must be participating in Certified Nursing Assistant program approved by the Maryland Board of Nursing (MBON).
Certifications
✓High school diploma or equivalent required or currently enrolled in a Certified Nursing Assistant program with the ability to receive high school diploma or equivalent within one year of hire.
✓Enrollment in the Certified Nursing Assistant program must be maintained until high school diploma or equivalent is acquired.
✓Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
Qualifications

✓Understands the patient care technician trainee role in relation to the healthcare workplace, especially in relation to the performance of delegated nursing functions.
✓Ability to read, write, and understand medical terminology.
✓Follows directions and effectively conveys verbal and written information.
✓Responds to emergency situations appropriately.
✓Adapts hours of availability to variable and changing needs of the hospital, including all shifts.
✓Effectively functions as a member of a collaborative team.
✓Complies with OSHA standards.
✓Understands and respects importance of patient privacy and confidentiality.
✓Applies interpersonal relationship skills in the healthcare workplace.
✓Understands the ethical and legal issues affecting the work of the patient care technician trainee.
✓Understands common mental health problems.
✓Understands the features of acute and long-term care.
✓Understands ways to improve patient satisfaction/experience.
✓Understands general concepts of hospital reimbursement.
✓Demonstrates a basic understanding of disease process and chronic vs. acute illness.
