To provide transportation for patients and patient care items. During transport, the Patient Escorter is to insure the safety and well-being of patients by means of safety devices and close observation. Responsibilities Ensure safe, comfortable, and dignified patient transport while adhering to strict protocols and providing basic patient care needs during transit.
Provide comfort items, maintain cleanliness, assist with personal needs, answer basic questions within policy, and adhere to safety regulations for medical equipment like oxygen and IVs. Maintain patient confidentiality and HIPAA compliance. Maintain clean equipment and practice utmost safety precautions equipment Transport essential medical materials, such as lab specimens, surgical trays, medications (including IV admixtures), and DME equipment, while adhering to aseptic techniques when handling specimens.
Proficiency in EPIC is essential for managing transport requests, including logging in, utilizing information systems, acknowledging and completing jobs, entering delay codes, communicating via secure chat, and managing break/lunch times. Coordination with the lead is necessary to ensure timely completion of transports. Adhere to hospital and departmental policies, including the dress code, attendance, meeting and mandatory training requirements.
