Position Hours Monday - Friday Days Department Summary Vanderbilt Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) Clinic is a nationally recognized specialty program dedicated to the comprehensive treatment and management of Crohn’s disease, ulcerative colitis, and other inflammatory bowel disorders. Providers work within a multidisciplinary team that includes gastroenterologists, colorectal surgeons, advanced practice providers, nurses, dietitians, pharmacists, social workers, and psychologists to deliver personalized, patient-centered care.
As the Southeast’s only clinic exclusively focused on IBD, the program offers advanced treatment options, including medication management, lifestyle interventions, functional medicine approaches, and surgical care when needed. The team is committed to helping patients achieve long-term symptom control, reduce flare-ups, and improve overall quality of life through innovative, coordinated care. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Proficiently performs all Associate Patient Service Specialist
. Schedules appointments and procedures through clinical communication, work queues, and patient portal messages Manages registration and patient work queues. Coordinates with patients and/or outside facilities to ensure all pre-appointment orders and consults have been received and ready to view prior to patient visit.
Communicates with patients through the patient portal using critical decision making to route appropriately as applicable. TECHNICAL CAPABILITIES CUSTOMER SERVICE (Intermediate): A continuing focus on the needs and requirements of customers, anticipating their needs, remaining sensitive to customers while performing services for them, responsive to customer needs.
PATIENT SCHEDULING (Novice): The ability to coordinate and schedule patient appointments, procedures and other office visits with various computer systems in the hospital or clinic. PATIENT DOCUMENTATION (Novice): The ability to receive and record patient information. MEDICAL TERMINOLOGY & DOCUMENTATION (Novice): The ability to comprehend medical terminology and APPOINTMENT & PRODECURAL SCHEDULING (Fundamental Awareness): The ability to coordinate and schedule diagnostic testing and procedures within various computer systems in the hospital.
