Patient Transporter

$16.56 - $16.56 per hour Pay Transparency: The above reflects the anticipated hourly wage range for this position if hired to work in New Jersey. The compensation offered to the candidate selected for the position will depend on several factors, including the candidate's educational background, skills and professional experience. Job Overview: Transport patients in a safe and efficient manner throughout the hospital under the direction of supervisory personnel.

Utilizes the automated transport system to perform duties. Performs routine cleaning of equipment used to transport patients. Adheres to universal infection control practices.

Practices excellent customer service skills with all patients, visitors and employees. Transports deceased to morgue

Required: Must have excellent communication skills Scheduling

Shift Working, 3:00am-11:30pm every other weekend and every other holiday Day to work varies Full Time

Accepts jobs in a timely manner. Places self in progress within 5 minutes of receiving job assignment Uses judgment in extending 5 minute grace period in waiting for patients Notifies dispatcher of delays Notifies system of job complete status Contacts dispatcher within 2 minutes if no job is received Advises nurse, nurse designee or technician when arrives on floor Introduces self to patient Transporter always checks the patient's ID band for the two identifiers before transporting patient (Name and Date of Birth) Assists the nurse or technician in transferring the patient from the bed to the transport equipment or vice versa Uses caution when rounding corners Ensures brakes are used when transferring from stretcher and/or wheelchair Maintains confidentiality of patient information Identifies appropriate situations to seek assistance from nursing staff and/or security Recognizes and reports patient discomfort, distress or emergency situations to the nurse or technician Always follow infection control and hand washing precaution before, during and after a transport Benefits and Perks: At RWJBarnabas Health, our market-competitive Total Rewards package provides comprehensive benefits and resources to support our employees’ physical, emotional, social, and financial health.
