Position Title: Pediatric Psychometrist Location: IUHMG M-Neuroscience Center
Full-Time Days
The Pediatric Psychometrist is a highly trained member of the clinical team who works under the direct supervision of a neuropsychologist to administer, and score standardized cognitive and psychological tests that measure critical brain function and behavioral symptoms to children and adolescents. This role combines specialized expertise in test administration, knowledge of relevant medical conditions, and skilled behavioral observation and management to deliver accurate, patient-centered assessments.
Beyond direct clinical care, Psychometrists at IU Health contribute to staff training, clinical research, and the smooth day-to-day operation of the clinic. Key Responsibilities Administer and score standardized neuropsychological, cognitive, and behavioral tests to children and adolescents with a high degree of precision, adapting to patient behavior throughout each assessment Build and maintain clinical rapport and trust with patients and families Closely observe and document patient behavior, and manage behavioral challenges during testing Communicate effectively with patients, families, caregivers, staff colleagues, and faculty clinicians Pediatric psychometrists serve patients from preschool age through young adulthood Assist with training and test certification for clinical and research staff and clinical trainees Conduct testing for clinical research studies and complete related data entry Maintain clinical charts and keep clinic supplies stocked Review and triage referrals and support general office operations For individuals with Spanish language fluency: conduct assessments in Spanish, with or without the assistance of an interpreter Qualifications Bachelor's degree in psychology or a related field required; OR a Bachelor's degree in an unrelated field with two years of patient-related or clinical research experience 0–3 years of relevant experience required Priority will be given to applicants with at least 1 year of related experience Priority will be given to applicants with demonstrated experience working with children/adolescents Individuals with Spanish language fluency are encouraged to apply About IU Health: IU Health is Indiana’s largest and most comprehensive healthcare system, with nearly 40,000 team members, 16 hospitals, and $8.64 billion in operating revenue.
