✓The Denver Health Surgical Intensive Care Unit (SICU) is a twenty-three-bed intensive care unit staffed by surgeons who are board certified in surgical critical care.
✓MD-Physician - State Medical Board Required and
Certifications
✓BLS-Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) - AHA - American Heart Association Required
✓PALS-Pediatric Advanced Life Support - AHA - American Heart Association Required
Education
✓Doctorate Degree Medical degree from an accredited institution. Required
✓A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected.
Qualifications
✓Knowledge of and ability to apply professional medical principles, procedures and techniques.
✓Thorough knowledge of pharmacological agents used in patient treatment.
✓Able to effectively manage and direct medical staff support activities while providing quality medical care.
✓Able to receive detailed information through oral communications; express or exchange ideas by verbal communications.
✓Excellent written and verbal communications, listening, and social skills.
✓Able to interact effectively with people of varied educational, socioeconomic and ethnic backgrounds, skill levels and value systems.
✓Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
✓Computer skills required.

About the role

The Pediatric Trauma Medical Director (PTMD) is the Trauma Surgeon who has been assigned by the hospital executive leadership and the Department of Surgery Director of Service to lead the multidisciplinary activities of the Pediatric Trauma Program.

What you’ll do
Examine young patients andExamine young patients and diagnosing health issues for surgery.
Order preoperative tests andOrder preoperative tests and physical examinations and interpreting results.
Consult with patients andConsult with patients and family members regarding diagnosis and treatment options.
Perform surgical procedures toPerform surgical procedures to correct deformations, congenital problems, injuries, or treat illnesses.
Collaborate and cooperating withCollaborate and cooperating with all the specialists involved in a child's medical care to determine when or if surgery is an appropriate treatment option.
