As a Per Diem Registered Nurse in the Infant/Toddler Inpatient Rehabilitation unit at Children's Specialized Hospital in New Brunswick , you'll provide individualized rehabilitative nursing care while partnering closely with families and an interdisciplinary team. Through skilled nursing care, thoughtful education, collaboration, and advocacy, you'll help create a supportive environment where each child's unique needs guide their plan of care and families remain active partners throughout the rehabilitation journey.
As a Pediatric Rehabilitation Registered Nurse (RN), a typical day may include: Providing individualized rehabilitative nursing care to infants and toddlers with a variety of clinical and developmental needs Using the nursing process to assess and accurately identify patient and family healthcare needs Planning, implementing, and evaluating pediatric rehabilitation plans based on each child's individualized needs and goals Incorporating pediatric rehabilitation principles and clinical rationale into daily nursing care Providing individualized patient and family education within established hospital and departmental guidelines Partnering with parents and caregivers to help them understand their child's care needs and participate in the rehabilitation process Collaborating with physicians, therapists, nurses, and other members of the interdisciplinary team to promote coordinated care and rehabilitation progress Supporting continuity of nursing care and interdisciplinary interventions throughout the patient's inpatient rehabilitation experience Incorporating LPNs and nursing assistants into short-term patient goals and delegating responsibilities appropriately Recognizing and respecting patient and family rights while providing culturally and religiously sensitive care Guiding and supporting LPNs, nurse externs, nursing assistants, nursing students, and new staff as a clinical resource and role model Assuming relief Charge Nurse responsibilities as needed while keeping the Nursing Supervisor informed of significant patient needs, concerns, or changes This role might be for you if: You are passionate about caring for infants and toddlers with rehabilitation and complex healthcare needs You enjoy partnering closely with parents and caregivers as active members of the child's care and rehabilitation team You bring strong assessment, clinical judgment, and problem-solving skills to pediatric nursing care You value interdisciplinary teamwork and enjoy collaborating with nursing, therapy, medical, and other rehabilitation professionals You are comfortable individualizing care and education based on each child and family's unique needs You communicate with compassion, professionalism, and sensitivity when supporting children and families You understand the importance of continuity of care throughout the inpatient rehabilitation experience You are comfortable delegating appropriately and providing guidance to nursing support staff, students, and newer team members You demonstrate professional accountability and actively evaluate your own clinical performance and learning needs You are comfortable stepping into relief Charge Nurse responsibilities when needed To be considered for this Pediatric Inpatient Rehabilitation Registered Nurse opportunity, candidates must meet the nursing education, licensure, certification, experience, and clinical competency requirements established by Children's Specialized Hospital and RWJBarnabas Health for pediatric inpatient nursing practice.
