MaineGeneral Health is hiring a Perioperative Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Surgical Services team. In this role, you will play a vital part in the surgical process by delivering compassionate, holistic care to patients before, during, and after surgery. You’ll ensure patient safety and comfort, support positive outcomes, and collaborate with a skilled multidisciplinary team to provide exceptional care.
Position: Perioperative Registered Nurse Location: Thayer Center for Health, Waterville
Part-time (32 hours/week)
Days (M-F, no call, weekends or holidays) Position Highlights: This position is M-F with no call, weekends, or holidays. However, you are expected to complete cross-campus training so you can float to the Alfond Center for Health if needed.
Plans, implements, and evaluates patient care plans based on patient assessment to optimize outcomes and maximize available resources. Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition as appropriate. Collaborates as needed across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including patient transfer, discharge, referral, and spiritual/psychosocial support needs.
Maintains and troubleshoots surgical equipment. Effectively delegates patient care to ancillary personnel. May precept student nurses and new hires.
What We're Looking For: Current State of Maine RN license (or ability to obtain promptly). Minimum of 2 years of operating room experience preferred. Strong problem-solving abilities, flexibility, and critical thinking skills.
Effective communication skills with patients, families, and team members.
