Under the supervision of the Assistant Director of Pharmacy, the Staff Pharmacist performs all duties necessary to provide effective daily operation of all pharmacy departmental services and programs.
Schedule is varied and responsibilities include: Compounding, labeling, and dispensing of medications and IV admixtures; Provide therapeutic drug monitoring by profiling physician orders; Computer order entry of physician orders to build medication profiles; Facilitate IV / oral medication preparation and dispensing; Supervise technicians in their daily duties; Provide pharmacokinetic drug dosing when requested by a physician.
Prepares and dispenses medication orders per physician request according to established policy, procedure, and protocol on a regular basis. Ensures safe, appropriate, cost effective medication therapies for patients according to established policies on a daily basis. Interprets medication orders and transcribes to computerized patient medication profiles accurately.
Compounds and dispenses pharmaceuticals, including sterile, and parental nutrition products accurately on a regular basis. Monitors drug therapy regimens for contraindications, drug – drug interactions, drug – food interactions, allergies, and appropriateness of drug and dose; Detects and reports suspected adverse drug reactions. On a regular basis.
Provides clinical consultation, clarification, and drug information as needed to practitioners and/or patients. Participates in the development and presentation of orientation, education, and training programs to the pharmacy, medical, nursing, and other staff members on an as needed basis. Contributes to the quality and effective operation of the department.
Documents all clinical interventions promptly and accurately on a regular basis. Provides excellent customer service to patients and family members. Assist other pharmacy staff members as needed.

Work
