Pharmacy Technician - Discharge - Outpatient Pharmacy (Full-Time, 40, Rotating)

Responsibilities I. JOB

• Assists the Clinical Pharmacist in the processing and filling of prescriptions and medication/medical supply orders.
• Reviews and enters orders and patient information into the pharmacy computer system.
• Processes and assists in the maintenance of pharmacy inventory.
• Provides customers/patients with information about medications, health insurance, and other health care related services.
• Files third-party insurance claims on paper and electronically. II. TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS: A.

• Occasional: Lift floor to waist between 36-50 lbs. Lift waist to shoulder between 36-50 lbs. Lift waist to overhead between 6-10 lbs. Carry between 36-50 lbs. Push and Pull between 36-50 lbs.
• Frequent: N/A
• Constant: N/A C. NON-MANUAL MATERIAL HANDLING:
• Infrequent: N/A
• Occasional: Sit. Stoop/Bend. Kneel. Twist. Crawl. Squat.
• Frequent: Climb: Stairs/Ladder. Reach: shoulder level. Reach: above head. Gripping.
• Constant: Stand. Walk. III. TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:
• Not substantially subjected to adverse environmental conditions.
• Exposure to noise/vibration from office/pharmacy equipment.
• Exposure to body fluids, chemicals and contact with patients with communicable diseases. Works on multiple tasks at the same time.
• May be required to work with hazardous drugs, depending upon area of assignment.
• Work environment is fast paced, crowded and may be stressful. IV.

A.

• High School diploma or equivalent. B. CERTIFICATION AND

• Current Hawaii State certificate of registration as a Pharmacy Technician. • Completion of pharmacy technical program or on-the-job education/pharmacy work experience preferred. C.

• One (1) year work experience, preferably as pharmacy technician/clerk.
• Ability to effectively communicate in English, both orally and in writing.
• Ability to use a computer, type, operate calculator.
