✓Requirements
Certifications
✓BCLS - Basic Life Support Upon Hire - required
Phlebotomy certification - preferred
Education
✓High School Diploma/G.E.D. - required
Minimum six months of direct patient care experience or successfully completed practical nurse program or enrolled in a healthcare program - preferred
Qualifications
✓Some phlebotomy experience - required
✓Use effective written and verbal communication skills to cooperatively work with customers and employees
✓Listen well, take directions and engage in interactive dialogue with others
✓Comprehend, remember and carry out instructions. The individual communicates any questions to a preceptor or Supervisor as the need arises
✓Seek the input of others to achieve consensus
✓Add, subtract, multiply and divide into all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
✓Accomplish a wide variety of tasks in a specified time, prioritize and make decisions as well as effectively provide feedback
✓Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
Formal Phlebotomy training or equivalent direct patient care training - preferred
For outpatient services, pediatric experience, the ability to transcribe orders, and experience in the processing for transport of specimens to the laboratory - preferred
