Performs phlebotomy and clerical support services duties for the efficient operations of the laboratory.

Performs Venipuncture and capillary draws on patients of all agesWorks on inpatient units and emergency departmentPrioritizes draws appropriately to meet turnaround time goalsOpportunity to cross-train in registration and specimen processingWorks collaboratively with medical technologists and nursing staff to ensure lab orders are completed timelyUtilizes handheld order management equipmentAdheres to standards of proper patient identification in the collection of laboratory specimensPerforms Point of Care Testing and Breath Alcohol Testing if competent as requiredCollects, receives and delivers specimens to laboratory departments in a timely mannerPrepares specimens for analysis, loads automated instrumentsHandles phone calls received on handheld phones or in the laboratory front officePromotes a clean and safe environment of care, utilizing the SAFE error prevention habitsProvides the highest standard of privacy and confidentiality in matters involving patients, coworkers, and the hospital by abiding by the Standards of Conduct Required

• Education and Training:High School Graduate or equivalentPhlebotomy Certification, American Society Clinical Pathologists (ASCP) or eligible. Must obtain ASCP certification within 6 months of hireWork Shift Details:Days, Primary hours are a mix of 6a
