As Needed | Work Hours: 9:00 p.m. to 5:30a.m. as needed, Monday through Sunday | Status: Full Time - 0.9 FTE (72 hours per pay period) | Entity: Owensboro Health Regional Hospital | Department: LaboratoryJob
Collects and processes clinical laboratory specimens of the patient population.
Assists in delivery of physicians' reports via phone and electronic distribution in a timely manner. Performs venipuncture on patients of all age groups and other specimen collection using proper therapeutic skills and according to procedures. Maintains work area and supplies according to protocol between patients and end of shift.
Maintains laboratory information system. Monitors error logs. Obtains diagnosis and patient demographics to ensure proper billing.
Receives samples into the laboratory, orders, and accessions. Responsible for reference lab orders and results. May perform waived laboratory testing on-site and reports results according to government standards.
Assists with specimen processing and pre-analytical testing functions. Provides training to students and other personnel populations. Skills and Attributes:Requires critical thinking skills and decisive judgment.
Works under general supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action. Applies more advanced skills and knowledge in the area of specialization.
