Job Title: Physical Therapist - Contingent/IRP Department: East | Physical Therapy The IRP-Allied Health individuals are licensed or certified professionals (physical therapists, occupational therapists, and speech/language pathologists) who work within a team structure to offer inpatient or outpatient rehabilitation services.
These services are offered to the acute-care hospital or outpatient service areas to patients who have disorders and conditions associated primarily with orthopedic problems, stroke or other neurological disorders, general medical dehabilitating conditions, vascular repair or amputation, or musculoskeletal pain. The IRP-Allied Health team member with the working title of physical therapist (PT) reports to the director of rehabilitation services.
The physical therapist is part of a multidisciplinary team effort to provide appropriate care to the patient. Upon referral, the physical therapist will assess patients and establish together with the patient and other team members plans of care; provide a wide variety of treatment techniques within the scope of the discipline; provide education and support to patients/families; and facilitate continuing care planning.
The physical therapist assures coordination of services and programs in appropriate interactions with other therapists, rehab supportive staff, and other participants in patient care activities like attending and resident physicians, nurses, their support staff, and Patient Care Resource Managers. The physical therapist embraces the Intensive Caring values (caring, respect, excellence, service, and teamwork) and uses them to guide interactions with others.
Minimum of Baccalaureate Degree. All academic degrees must have been granted from an accredited institution. License to practice physical therapy in the state of Ohio or current eligibility to take the licensure examination.
Successful completion of an accredited physical therapy school clinical internship is necessary. One-year's experience working in a medical setting is preferred for all professionals hired.
