Physicist-Radiation Oncology

Summary The Department of Radiation Oncology at the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) – Orangeburg is seeking a qualified Radiation Oncology Medical Physicist to join our growing team. The successful candidate will contribute to all aspects of the radiation oncology physics program, including clinical operations, quality assurance (QA), and development or support of clinical projects. You will work closely with the system Chief of Physics and the regional Chief of Physics to ensure high standards of care across the department. This position offers a hybrid work schedule.

Additional

Qualifications M. S. or Ph. D. in Medical Physics.

Board certification by the American Board of Radiology (ABR) or eligibility (including 2025 residency graduates from CAMPEP-accredited programs). Experience with the following systems is highly desirable: Varian : TrueBeam, Trilogy, Eclipse, ARIA, and VariSeed. CT Simulation : Siemens Somatom RT Pro with Varian RGSC and RPM.

Strong programming and scripting skills are a plus, particularly for automation and clinical innovation. A passion for technology integration and continuous quality improvement is highly valued. Clinical Environment One dedicated radiation oncologist and onsite dosimetrist.

Equipment includes: Varian Trilogy (scheduled for replacement in 2027) New Varian TrueBeam (go-live August 2025) Siemens Somatom RT Pro CT (installed 2025 with RGSC motion management features) Treatment Planning : Eclipse with ARIA R&V LDR Prostate Brachytherapy : Varian VariSeed This site functions as a satellite of the MUSC main campus, allowing for collaboration and support across the health system.
