Education
High School Diploma or Equivalent including education equivalent to completion of secondary school or demonstrated ability to perform the essential functions of the role. AND Postsecondary (Cert/Diploma/Program Grad) Technical coursework or maintenance-related training (Preferred)
Qualifications
✓Basic understanding of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and structural systems
✓Ability to use hand and power tools safely and correctly
✓Comfortable working around mechanical systems and in utility areas
✓Follows safety regulations including PPE use and lockout/tagout procedures
✓Good communication skills and ability to follow written and verbal instructions
✓Demonstrates initiative, reliability, and eagerness to expand skill set
✓Frequent walking, standing, kneeling, lifting up to 75 lbs, and climbing ladders
✓Regular use of hand tools, power tools, and mechanical equipment
✓Visual and auditory capacity to monitor alarms and observe equipment operation
✓Reports unsafe conditions and participates in maintaining a safe work environment
✓Maintains professional behavior, attendance, and compliance with department protocols
✓Valid state-issued driver’s license (Required)
✓One (1) year of experience in facility operations, building maintenance, or related work (Required)

About the role
The Plant Operations II General Maintenance Operative performs a variety of semi-skilled maintenance and repair duties to support safe, efficient operation of the facility’s systems and infrastructure. Building upon entry-level experience, this role includes routine inspections, basic troubleshooting, assistance with mechanical and utility systems, and support of skilled trades.
