In the event of emergency, must be able to work weekends, holidays and other shifts. Threads, solders, fit and weld pipes. Installs, connects, repairs and replaces pipes. Assembles plumbing fixtures such as sinks, toilets, showers and water heaters.
Maintains fire systems, checking sprinklers and standpipes, etc Fits gaskets, seals joints, makes connections using weld, solder, nuts and bolts Repairs autoclaves, sterilizing equipment and distilled water units Paints, plasters or replaces tile and floor boards, when necessary. Maintains cleanliness of all equipment and shop. Performs related duties, as required. *ADA
Job Qualification High school diploma or GED, required. Vocational high school graduate with 2 years plumbing courses or equivalent, required. G38Torch use of O-2 COMB GAS Certificate, required.
Burning and Welding Certificate, required. Minimum of two (2) years general experience as plumber or steamfitter, required. Knowledge of shop tools, pipe threading, electric drills, rotary hammers, required.
Ability to interpret building and plumbing codes. Ability to read blueprints and schematics in accordance with NYC Code. Working knowledge of all building, grounds, facilities and department work areas, required.
Computer literacy preferred.
