Under the direction of the Plant Operations Director or designated Supervisor, duties of the Plumber include, but are not limited to; plumbing, steam, condensate, chill water, reheat domestic repairs/installation in a commercial, industrial, institutional applications. Understands closed loop systems as well as medical gas systems and associated piping. Coordinates shutdowns with hospital staff and contracted services.
Reads and understands blue prints, mechanical and plumbing. Works with contracted mechanical engineers as needed. Ability to purchase materials beneficial to the hospital with long-term benefits to the infrastructure on-going.
Cost conscious with input on water consumption reduction, conservation. Performs work in a journeyman type manner to ensure quality of repair and installation. Ability to stay calm under pressure.
Shares all plumbing and mechanical knowledge/skills to help other department team members succeed. Welcomes input from others. Performs all other duties as directed.
QualificationsEducationHigh School Diploma/GEDLicensure/Certification/RegistrationSpecial Skills/Qualifications/Additional Training/Experience RequiredMed gas certification preferred. Must be able to read, write, speak and understand English.
