You’ll need
Licensure
✓If candidate does not have the RPSGT, RST or SDS credential, must be a Registered Respiratory Therapist from the NBRC and be licensed as a Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCPC) by the IPLA and pass the RPSGT, RST or SDS within 1 year of being eligible to sit for the exam.
Certifications
✓Technologists who obtained the RPSGT credential prior to July 1, 2008 are considered grandfathered and may be qualified through on‐the‐job training and physician verification without formal education or completion of the A‐STEP program.
✓Must have the RPSGT credential from the BRPT or SDS credential from the NBRC or RST credential from the American Board of Sleep Medicine.
✓Must have current basic CPR certification.
✓Addendums are required for 0153 Nurse Leader, 0249 Registry RN, 0252 Registered Nurse, 0235 Advanced Registered Nurse, and 0236 Expert Registered Nurse.
Education
✓Must be a graduate of a Respiratory Care Program
✓or be a graduate of a CAAHEP program (Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Program)
✓or have a minimum of 960 hours of experience in the field and have completed a STAR‐designated Self‐Study education program.
Qualifications
✓or have completed the A‐STEP program from the American Academy of Sleep Medicine
✓Must be able to lift 30 pounds.
Prefer 1 year experience working as a Polysomnographer. Prefer 6 months experience working with pediatric patient populations. preferred
About the role
Performs polysomnography, scores records and performs routine maintenance and calibration of testing equipment. Performs related clerical work and documentation required to effectively maintain all clinical and operational aspects of the Sleep Disorders Center. Evaluates patients for sleep related breathing disorders and other sleep abnormalities including but not limited to seizure disorders and narcolepsy.
