We are hiring a Postdoctoral Research Fellow to work with Dr. Jooyeon Hwang (PI) on a state-funded project assessing firefighter exposure to carcinogenic compounds in fire smoke. The study partners with local and regional fire departments and uses a multi-omics approach to explore links between occupational exposures and cancer risk.
This is a two-year full-time position and extension possible pending funding availability. This position involves field-based sampling and exposure monitoring in firefighter work environments and laboratory-based analyses. What we do here changes the world.

- A postdoc position provides an opportunity for early-career researchers to gain valuable experience, develop independent research skills, and contribute to the advancement of scientific knowledge in their field of expertise. Position Key Accountabilities:
- Plans and conducts experiments, analyzes data, and prepares publications describing results.
- Assists in training and mentoring of lab personnel, including graduate students and other trainees.
- Reads and evaluates literature.
- Possess interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate and communicate with individuals at all levels.
- Have strong written and oral communication skills.
- Design and conduct sampling campaigns in occupational settings, particularly fire service environments.
- Operate and maintain monitoring equipment.
- Conduct data collection, management, analysis, and reporting related to field sampling activities.
- Analyze exposure data and contribute to manuscript preparation.
- Assist in mentoring graduate students and research staff. Preferred
Strong foundation in statistical analytical skills, exposure sciences, and industrial hygiene. Experience in field and lab work involving environmental or occupational exposures. Minimum
PhD in environmental and occupational health sciences, epidemiology, or related field. Doctoral/Terminal Degree Physical
Exerts up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds frequently and/or a negligible amount constantly to move objects.
