PRN hours will varyCompletes nutrition-focused physical assessments, takes measurements, reviews medical records, collects data via interviews, and evaluates anthropometric status. Evaluates assessment data to identify nutrition risks, nutrition problems, criteria consistent with malnutrition, knowledge deficits, and high-risk health behaviors. Offers nutrition interventions, orders, education, counseling, and referrals to other services.

Provides counseling and education using evidence-based techniques that reflect appropriate health literacy and cultural sensitivity to patients with disease processes requiring nutritional management. Supervises practice experience for dietetic interns, dietetic technicians, registration eligible dietitians and new employees, participates in research, performance improvement, and initiatives. Enters nutrition orders when authorized by Medical Staff policy and procedure to reflect patient care.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:Must be able to read, write, speak, and have good comprehension of conversational EnglishBasic computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft OfficeComprehensive knowledge and application of nutrition services and medical nutrition therapyGeneral knowledge of nutrient analysis, word processing, e-mail, and spreadsheet softwareAbility to search the web for nutrition research or practice updates and apply knowledge to updating reference materials, preparing for presentations, education, etc.

Avails self to staff on units as the nutrition expertParticipates in Quality Improvement activitiesAttends interdisciplinary meetings and rounds on assigned units as scheduled unless valid excuse demonstratedReviews and/or updates department resource/reference materials when applicable or RequiredEducation:Bachelor's RequiredField of Study:In nutrition or related fieldWork
