Other information: Job Summary This position is responsible for actively contributing to the operational effectiveness of the Regional Director of the Behavioral Health and Psychiatric Services by providing administrative and navigation support in a complex and confidential environment.
This position is responsible for the daily management and operations of assigned department(s) to ensure optimal efficiency and profitability as well as patient, provider and employee satisfaction. Areas of focus include, but are not limited to: the implementation of all Behavioral Health projects and ensures cohesive operations, including transitions of care for the Mental Health Center, Outpatient Clinics, and the P-Pods in the Skagit Valley Hospital Emergency Department.
The Behavioral Health Project Coordinator will partner effectively with employees, other leaders and physicians to implement programs to attain the highest levels of patient focused care, provide leadership and direction within all aspects of department activities to ensure accomplishment of organizational objectives. Demonstrates core leadership competencies (e.g., building a successful team, building organizational talent, building partnerships, using compelling communication, driving execution, leading change, leading through vision and values, selecting talent, focusing on the customer). Maintains expertise and knowledge of the unit, de-escalation/crisis response system which includes proper phone technique, crisis intervention skills, application of restraints, and recording of information for statistical purposes.
Along with other members of the treatment team, participates in assessment and treatment of Behavioral Health patients. Assists Regional Director and the psychiatrists in communicating, and scheduling of outpatient, P-pods, and medical floors. Participates in rounding with psychiatrists and works with the floor social workers and providers to determine level of care to be provided.
Assists in discharge planning and the scheduling of follow up appointments for patients upon discharge, assists in the court liaison process (including affidavits), petitions and filing of documents, staff scheduling, and coordinates medical floor consultations with Psychiatric Providers; and responds to code greys. Participates in weekly clinical staffing conferences for the purpose of planning and implementing clinically sound treatment objectives and procedures.
Responsible for coordinating daily staffing requirements and scheduling of Behavioral Health team. Notifies appropriate personnel regarding staffing changes in a timely manner. Monitors overtime, premium pay and contractual requirements for patient care staff.
Ensures pay rules are accurate and consistently applied. Attends staff meetings prepared with suggestions for possible interventions and assessment of patient problems. Maintain ability to effectively utilize Microsoft Office (Outlook) and department specific software applications to perform work.
Communicate effectively and cooperatively in the workplace. Actively contribute to the achievement of Quality Improvement and Lean Process Improvement activities. Complete all mandatory learning requirements in a timely manner.
Attend and actively participate in all department, team and/or committee meetings. Comply with all Skagit Regional Health, department and location specific policies and procedures. Perform other duties as assigned by Supervisor or designee.
Education AA or Bachelor’s Degree in a related field preferred. Experience/Training Must possess expertise in regard to delivery of psychiatric services in an acute setting or like human services related field. One (1) year of experience working with psychiatric patients in an inpatient setting preferred.
License/Certifications Current AHA (American Heart Association) BLS certification required within 90 days of hire. Other Skills Able to work equally well with individuals, families and groups. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both orally and in writing.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear.
This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day. The employee must frequently lift or move objects and patients weighing over 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to focus.
