Job Summary Assists in providing patient care and treatment in an outpatient setting in accordance with the Division of Nursing Standards. Maintains a safe and clean environment, assists the patient care team to provide various patient care activities and maintains customer service focus essential for smooth operation.

Performs various patient care activities and related non-professional services required to maintain the therapeutic milieu. Provides care to a general adult population of adult psychiatric patients. Primary Responsibilities The following statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by people assigned to this classification.

• As part of the care team, meets with the Registered Nurse to receive the report and patient priorities for the shift. The Patient Care Technician will coordinate with RN throughout shift.
• Accurately takes, records, and reports vital signs, pain rating, height, weight, pulse oximetry and I&O (including drains).
• Performs administrative tasks as needed, including but not limited to answering telephones, order entry, ordering of stock, and maintenance requests.
• Performs hourly patient rounding and change of shift reports.
• Responds to patient needs and calls in a timely manner and adheres to No Pass Zone practice.
• Reports changes in patient condition to the RN and recognizes and responds appropriately to emergency situations.
• Leads therapeutic / psycho-educational groups as needed.
• Performs all other related duties as assigned. Work Experience Education & Experience - Required
• Associate degree in psychology, sociology, counseling, or related field, or pursuing a bachelor’s degree in a related healthcare field is required. Two (2) or more years of experience in the behavioral health field may substitute the required education if the high school diploma requirement is met.
• Certified by the Maryland State Board of Nursing as a Nursing Assistant required.
• Current Basic Life Safety (BLS) required. Education & Experience - Preferred

• Abilit to organize and manage time effectively, setting appropriate priorities.
• Ability to understand and respect importance of patient privacy and confidentiality.
