✓Psychiatrist 1: License and current registration to practice medicine in New York State, and completion of a training program in psychiatry approved by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN).

✓Psychiatrist 2: License and current registration to practice medicine in New York State, and certification in psychiatry approved by the ABPN.

✓Loss of license or limited permit to practice medicine in New York State or board certification, if required, may result in removal from your position.

About the role

Duties Description Manhattan Psychiatric Center (MPC), an Office of Mental Health (OMH) Joint Commission accredited facility, is recruiting Board Certified or Board Eligible Psychiatrists for their Competency Restoration Unit (CRU). The CRU provides a multi-disciplinary approach to care for individuals who have been found incompetent to proceed in legal proceedings due to mental illness. As a Psychiatrist at MPC, you will provide comprehensive, patient-centered, and recovery- focused treatments to individuals with mental health symptoms 18 years of age or older; including:
Conducting comprehensive psychiatric assessments and patient admissions
Overseeing an average caseload of 8 - 10 individuals
Creating treatment plans including medication management
Identifying and treating psychiatric symptoms that impair competency
Restoring the patient’s competency-related abilities, improving understanding of the legal process and legal knowledge, assisting counsel in their own defense, and making informed decisions related to their case
Providing competency-focused psychoeducation
Preparing timely clinical documentation necessary to facilitate restoration and legal proceedings About MPC: MPC is a comprehensive, community-based mental health facility serving individuals who are 18 years or older, from the Manhattan and Greater NYC Region. MPC’s focus on evidence-based, person-centered, and culturally sensitive treatment helps their patient achieve their recovery goals.

NYS Retirement programs Background checks will be required. This position is eligible for a Downstate Adjustment of $4,000 PSYCHIATRIST 1: $270,356 PSYCHIATRIST 2: $283,577 NOTE: 1. If appointed you may be required to become an enrolled Medicare provider; obtain and provide to your employer a National Provider Identifier (NPI) number issued by the National Plan and Provider Enumeration System (NPPES); and otherwise actively participate to the degree necessary to allow for your services to be billed through Medicare and Medicaid. If you are appointed and you lose the ability to bill through Medicare and Medicaid, you may be terminated from your employment. 3.
