Licensure
Prior certification or registration with the Louisiana State Board of Private Security examiners is recommended. preferred
Certifications
✓Must be certified by a State certified, recognized, and STPHS approved firearms, handcuffing, and/or law enforcement training entity.
✓Must have a State Firearms Certification
Prior experience as a Police Officer’s Standards and Training (P.O.S.T.) certified law enforcement officer, federal law enforcement officer, military enforcement officer, or armed hospital security officer preferred.
Education
✓High school diploma or equivalent required.
Qualifications
✓Must be able to read, write and follow written or oral instructions. 2+ years of armed security related experience is required.
✓You must not have any felony convictions.
✓You must own and maintain ownership of a privately owned cellular phone for emergencies and on-call events.
✓Must satisfactory complete firearm training, written tests, and qualify on the firing range.
✓Firearms recertification must be performed annually.
✓Must be eligible and willing to work 12 hour shifts, day and/or night to include weekends.
✓You must follow the Use of Force policy and all STHS procedures.
✓Must agree to and sign off on the STHS firearm affidavit.
✓This position requires driving a hospital-owned vehicle and/or a personally owned vehicle to perform the essential job duties. In order to be considered, the candidate:
✓Must have a valid and current state issued driver’s license
✓Must maintain and provide proof of automobile insurance (at his/her own expense) in amounts which meet at least the minimum liability coverage limits required by the state of their residence.
