and Responsibilities As our Scheduler, you will orchestrate a seamless and efficient care process for patients and providers by coordinating appointments and managing schedules. Every day you will schedule patient appointments and coordinate multiple provider schedules for medical procedures, tests, and studies. You'll ensure timely scheduling through effective communication, accurately gather and verify patient insurance and documentation, process reports, and provide exceptional customer service to patients via phone and in-clinic assistance.
To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate strong attention to detail, multitasking abilities, and excellent communication and reasoning skills to manage scheduling complexities and patient inquiries, always striving for accuracy and efficiency. Answers the telephone professionally and courteously within defined time. Projects a professional and pleasant voice in all telephone communications.
Manages multiple calls while minimizing the time callers are on hold. Efficiently and accurately meets the needs of callers requesting information about procedures or reports performed within the department. Assists the radiologist, and physicians as needed in a professional and pleasant manner.
Works closely with the registration department in processing outpatients through the department. Routinely utilized the Meditech computer scheduling module to schedule procedures in multiple departments within imaging. Verifies clinical history with the requested exam then enters orders into the order entry system accurately.
Provides imaging interpretation reports and films upon request of the referring physicians and files films. Ensure timely distribution of reports to physicians nursing units or MIS via fax, courier mail, or volunteers. Establishes and maintains the patient records to comply with regulatory and legal requirements.
Ensure prompt distribution and filing of reports and films. Maintains the 7-day file and long-term files. Purge reading room films daily.
Assists in the monitoring of clerical/file process, recommending modifications for improvement. Represents the department as a super user for the Meditech computer information system. Inputs data and tests the functionality of the radiology and scheduling modules during all revisions and upgrades to Meditech.
Updates the dictionaries within the radiology and scheduling modules. Maintains the Meditech radiology and scheduling modules. Troubleshoots and corrects problems identified within the modules or is a resource to Meditech in resolving issues identified.
Maintains communications with other Meditech users at other facilities to optimize functionality and problem solving with the system. Trains and assists various staff members in the operation of the computer system. Job Requirements Required Medical terminology and clerical experience and Programming/maintenance experience in Meditech Radiology and scheduling modules and Word processingand computer data input experience and Customer service skills in telephone communications Preferred High School GED General Studies or Equivalent educational experience, upon hire or High School Graduate General Studies or Equivalent educational experience, upon hire and Experience in a medical office or hospital environment.
